Regeneration Project

We are pleased to release the designs for the Traralgon Regeneration Project involving Traralgon College and Latrobe Special Developmental School. The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) has worked with schools and broader community to develop the exciting master plans for this project.

Since 2018, the Victorian Government has committed more than $30 million for this project, which will provide local students with safe and nurturing state-of-the-art education facilities.

We will use this funding to upgrade and modernise Traralgon College’s Grey Street Campus and build a new VCE centre. The new centre will feature a variety of teaching and learning areas, including a creative space and presentation space. We will begin construction on Stage 1 of the project in mid-2021 and finish in mid-2022. Stage 2, which will include a new administration building, library, a Years 9 and 10 building, and a science building, is due for completion by the end of 2023.

Latrobe Special Developmental School will also receive a new home next to the Traralgon College Shakespeare Street campus on Liddiard Road. The new build will cater for 88 students in a space that meets their diverse needs and provides them with facilities they need to thrive.
We will begin construction for Latrobe SDS in Term 1 2021 and expect to finish by the end of Term 3 2022.

Latrobe SDS was one of 39 specialist schools sharing in more than $388.8 million from the 2020–21 State Budget.  This is Victoria’s single largest investment in upgrading specialist schools. Traralgon College and Latrobe SDS will maintain their individual strengths and identities as we work together to create a 21st century education space for future generations of students. Both schools will keep their  communities up to date  through their  newsletters and websites as the project progresses; or visit the VSBA website.
